Brief
Heyworth Primary School approached Prism Creative to produce a new website that would fulfill a multitude of objectives.
- To further engage the pupils and parents with the school and the activities on offer
- To assist with communicating key information to all stakeholders, including Governors, parents, pupils and staff
- To attract new parents to the school
- To showcase the Heyworth’s achievements to the wider community
Based upon these objectives Prism Creative put into action our ‘schools website workshop’.
Solution
The schools website workshop is a process that Prism Creative has produced to assist with the design and development of a website. It influences each stage of a website project, from the school’s initial engagement, technical specification and design right through to the writing of the copy.
The process starts with a series of audience workshops held for each separate target group – such as parents, pupils, staff etc. These sessions enable us to discuss exactly how each group would like to interact with the website, what functionality they would like and areas for growth. (These workshops are also a fun interactive learning session for the pupils and can be included as part of the schools curriculum).
The workshop results are then translated into a technical specification which acts as a brief for the design and build development. The results of which are a playful, informative and accessible final site that all members of the school have an interest in.
The school has full access to the site’s content management system and as such can easily update the site with key information – such as school events, important announcements to parents and governors, as well as publicising pre and post school activities.
